June 2017 we bought a VKV 101. It's been a long time since we bought a new kayak. We have had our Dear for a long time and have been thinking about something a little slimmer and taller for quite some time but haven't come up with anything. Until now, that is, it is from 1976 according to previous owners. It has lived in the corners of the Somme before it ended up in Knäckebröhult. Before the Somme, it lived in the corners of Gothenburg.
VKV 101 has been with VKV for a long time and is still available in the range, but now in a classic white-blue design and also with doors.
Ours is dark brown, much darker than Kåre. 510 cm long and 51 wide, stick control and wooden seat. I really like the stick steering, we have it at Kåre as well, so nice to sit barefoot with substantial foot support and then steer with small, simple pokes on the steering stick.
So far not very well used, but we think the 101 will get a ride on it Västersjön a part. Vingier than Dear of course but feels manageable, we'll see how it works for us 🙂
