- Handbook in close proximity to nature
By Mats and Åsa Ottosson
Okay, I'll cut to the chase. Wonderful book!!!
Makes me really giddy to read this book, even though I've already read, heard, done, seen and experienced a lot of it in some way. After all, I have a few years behind me. 😉
But oh! How neat, simple, close, inspiring, varied and complementary. It makes me so happy to read Hmma Därute. Maybe because I'm already interested in a lot of things they cover, maybe because they interview some celebrities, like Kajsa at the outhouse and Elle Nikish from Elle's outdoor food, perhaps because it is simply a book written with a lot of joy and passion for just being at home out there. More like that!! 😀
A few facts about the book.
The format is quite substantial, not very thick (232 pages). The cover is nothing that immediately screams "Read me!", but the content is just the opposite.
Nice pictures, nice illustrations, good mix of people, young and old, experienced and beginners, animals and lots of nature.
Topics such as hiking, picking edibles, growing diversity, sleeping outside, cooking and coffee, building nests, species viewing and Just Being are covered.
"If you can learn to recognize that there is a may fern, and there is a forest species running and there is the larkspur, then nature grows. It is animated in a completely different way. You realize that it is more than just trees and grass, it is a world inhabited by other beings.”
— Peter Boman
The main character in all this is our nature, preferably in our vicinity. Don't make it so hard, take it one step at a time.
