- this paddling thing seems like fun. Time outside counts!

erikorange.jpg

In the first place, it is sea paddling/tour paddling that applies, long-distance paddling says something, but we rarely paddle far. Excursion paddling is probably a sensible definition 🙂 Really like being out with the kayak and the tent but other time outdoors is not wrong either.. Want to go out more! There will also be some walking, hiking, mountain biking, skiing with more. Take some photos when we are out, think it's fun. Showing some of the pictures here on the net and on e.g Flickr, Instagram, Facebook and more. If anyone wants to see them bigger, we can come up with one projector or we can print pictures on canvas or other material.

Born: May 7, 1968. Living: In Kollebäckstorp (or Knäckebröhult as we now say), in the middle of the forest in Northwest Scania together with Pia (formerly two cats Nikon & Ilgot). From time to time we think about moving to an archipelago region, so if anyone has a fun job offer, just get in touch 😉 Speaking of Knäckebröhult, we've sometimes managed to be a bit sneaky.

The articles above are pretty much about working a little less, doing more of what you like and being outdoors and together a lot.

Erik Sjöstedt works with: Various workers in own company Paddle. A bit of mixed work with our own sites, other people's sites and some texts in mixed directions sometimes. Previous occupations below.

  • May 2012 – September 2013. Freelance basis for/for out north. Product texts, blog and the like. Stopped when it felt like too much "factory".
  • 2008-2011 – Half-time as a web editor, pixel pular and outdoor geek at Get Out but was dismissed when Outnet took over and they cleared away the overflow 😉
  • 2007-2009 Half-time as web editor at the magazine FOTO, which was owned by Allers. The sites were then in EPIserver and were incredibly sluggish, so I got tired and had also come to the conclusion that a maximum of half an hour in total would be enough.
  • 1999-2008 pixel nerd on Choose Photolab. Scanning, retouching, printing, original work and more.
  • 1996-1999 Worked together with Lars Kjellberg to start up the photo sites Photodo.se and Photodo.com (now closed). A little early for ad-funded sites then, but fun to try.
  • 1992-1996 Participated in starting the magazine Fotografi together with Lars Kjellberg and Leslie Spenner. Wrote, scanned, laid out, did camera tests, lens tests and lots of other fun stuff.
  • 1989-1992 Photo technical assistant at the newspaper Aktuell Fotografi (now FOTO which is now defunct). Tested some gadgets, wrote some practical articles and slaved away in the darkroom and studio. Aktuell Fotografi was owned by Allers, who bought the magazine Foto and merged the magazines in 1992.

Paddles: A bit mixed but mostly ClapotisClapotis in cow fiber or Arrow Play, sometimes one VKV Kåre, Tracer 165 etc. Previous kayaks in the fleet have been NDK Triton , Rockhopper 340, Surf skis Fenn Mako XT replica, Rockpool Alaw BachSKUK Romany, NDK Explorer,  Skim DexBuccaneer, VKV Offshore, Mistral and others Read more about our kayaks here. Has also SUPat a little in recent years and have done some rapids paddling.

Favorite color: Orange! Will probably get some more fine colored orange stuff!!

Kayaked for the first time: 1991 in Lake Halen. No real highlight because those kayaks were pretty lousy. Before that we had paddled some Canadians. The interest in kayaking was born at some point; then it became a rental kayak a number of years before own kayak was acquired in March 1998. Built me a Kavat in the year 2000.

Other: Support purchases of Danish pilsner when the need arises. Feel free to take one Single Malt on a rock next to the kayak. Playing geocaching (treasure hunting with GPS) a little now and then. Otherwise, there will be some forest cycling (or MounTainBike as it is also called), some forest walks and SkogsLufs (or TrailRunning as it is called in anxious Swedish)... Then we went down to part-time job around 2009 there has been a little more skiing, a little more farming, around the house and a little motorhome driving.

  1. Hello!

Interesting page! My friend Anders and I are somewhat in the same industry. That is, kayaking and long trips. We just got our blog up at utebloggen.wordpress.com. Check it out if it sounds interesting! Mutually inspiring?!

  2. Hello!

I was just on your site and read your posts and it makes me want to start kayaking. On our site we have great offers on Ultralight down sleeping bags from Cumulus.
It would also be nice if you looked in and judged if my store could be something for you to link to. We are happy to link back to you. That way we both win because we can help each other get more traffic.

    Keep in touch : )

    Regards
    Jacob

  3. Hi Eric,
We – Frederikshavn Kayak Club – are planning a club trip to Fjällbacka Skærgaard at the beginning of July 2014.
We are planning an announcement about the trip on our website http://www.frh-kajakklub.dk/
but missing a good skærgaard picture.
Can we borrow / købe et af dine?
    Best regards

  4. This is interesting, I read your construction blog about the nice wooden kayaks from 2000, https://www.kajak.nu/byggen/erik-henriks-kajakdagbok/erik-klar/ it is absolutely huge that you can create these boats with a little handwork.
Now I will search further to find drawings and build my own too... my fingers itch but to tell the truth I have never even sat in a kayak but on the other hand I love the sea and sail quite a bit...

How much did your kayaks cost to build?

Thanks for an inspiring page 😉

  6. Hello Erik! We borrowed a nice picture of the Blekinge archipelago for our competition about Sweden's most beautiful nature. Now we were asked by other media that write about the results of the competition if they can publish the picture (with your byline, of course). Would they go well? Thank you for the quick reply (need to inform Svenska Dagbladet at ten o'clock tomorrow). Kind regards, Mats Hellmark, Sweden's Nature mats.hellmark@naturskyddsforeningen.se
