Valöträffen 2007

Koll Brook Cottage - Valö, Friday 29/6 - 15 km in the kayak, 20 mil in the car
Stopped working at 16.40, ran home as fast as it just went, knew that Eric set at home and "jumped".
On with the kayaks on the car, kissed the cats and go to GKF and Valöträffen. 20:45 we were in the kayaks and with Michael K as a companion butted ourselves against the wind & Valö, we went from Donsö and Styrsö and on the outside of Vango to get some shelter.

Just over three hours later, still Friday with a few minutes to spare, we landed in darkness at Valö. Patric and Little Tomas helped us ashore, and after pitching the tent in the rain, we sat in fyrhusets goa heat and talked to 2 o'clock. When we left the lighthouse we thought it hardly rained or blew. But when we rounded the corner, we realized that it was completely wrong, the torrential rain and wind was really, we had time to get soaking wet on the 15 meters to the tent. Once inside we saw that Eric had an approximately 5-10cm deep puddle / lake in the apse. It rained so much that the water did not drain away, but stayed outside the tent, luckily. Some had placed their tents right on the gutter and had 15-20cm of water in the tents
someone moved the tent, while someone was sleeping inside.

Valö, Sat 30/6 - 4 km
Woke up to a nice warm sun after all the rain and wind during the night. Took it easy with a little bath in the morning and was looking foam and waves at Valöbräken in the afternoon. I got into some good surf and managed to scrape against a reef quite a bit, well in the country, I had some water in the forward bulkhead. Hoped first it was just a door that was sloppy on, it ... but it was not.

Then I spent most of the day and evening to run after John Linder with a piece of wood and various samples of commingled gel coat / top coat, etc. I'm sorry John! But next time I can manage enough self . I cleaned and patched together Puffin outside to hold tight to the GKF next day. It felt not quite optimal to damage the kayak when we were off just over a week on tour.

At the meeting, it was pretty crowded, counted up to 35 canoes and a sailing canoe on Saturday, who sat and ate and talked late into the night. Of course, I crept down around 1 o'clock.

Valö - Saltholmen - Rivö, Sun 1/7 - 20 km

Another fine morning, met Felix and Father Robert at 4 am. Felix slept fitfully, but fell asleep again after a little walk, himself was the one round at a secret house that attracted ... After more talk in the morning we went off with a botanical walk. Per Kjellander (I think his name) told me about different species of Valö. Too bad you have teflon memory, unfortunately, not many plants that got stuck. Because the weather was so fine took some of us a ride out Styrsö on the way back to the GKF.

Me and Erik was going to be out another night, but my kayak had wrapped inside as well. Once there, we picked out all of my kayak and put it in verksta'n. Keep in mind, has been a member for almost a month and is already in verksta'n! I got a tip how to fix it and was left to my fate ... After weaving and plastic none we had coffee with John, Aase, and Thomas, before I had to borrow a Clapotis (thanks again John) and paddled out to Rivö for overnight. A little cooking, and then sängdax.

Rivö - Saltholmen, Mon 2/7 - 3 km
We awoke to rain drumming on the canvas and decided to wait with breakfast and just paddle to Saltholmen. With wind and rain on the face paddle we. We borrowed the showers, cleaned out verksta'n, packed the car and ate breakfast in the kitchen of GKF. Then we focused car to Grisslehamn for further travel to Åland.

A very nice match, for us it was the second time in Valöträffen and it'll certainly be more.
