Matilda
From Tuesday lunch to Thursday afternoon, I was, my friend Paula and her daughter Matilda, age 10, and paddled in Hällaryd archipelago while Eric worked in Bodafors . It was some years ago Paula paddled later and it was the first time for Matilda. It's exciting for us all three, I would paddle a second that we had rented from George on Kajaksyd , with Matilda. Took some time to pack the kayaks and Matilda would of course have an answer to the millions of questions she thought of. She got a life jacket of George who was for children with collar. It did not fall on fertile ground, she wanted to have the type of life jacket which we had, not the baby's life jacket ... We managed to find a vest that actually was really good and we finally got to the water.
Hardly any wind, some sunshine and warm. Perfect. Matilda came to the conclusion that it was not as scary ... It was even fun!
First stop was already on E Bokö, stretched a bit on the legs and adjusted some small things on the kayaks. Now it began to blow a little from the West, but it was not so much. With a little help from the wind and waves in the back, then we paddled towards and around Bockö. There was a boat on the south side and one on the east side, so we went in on the north shore.
The two tents were set up, Matilda became the head of her and Paula's tent, therefore, she was put up, take down and keep track of all the pins that goes with it. She did it with panache. Night two, she wanted to also compete as to which of the two of us who put up the tent quickly ... I had a Soulo and she is a marmot , guess who won? ![]()
We cooked, went for a walk, played games and got into the bags forward 22 times.

Wednesday was warm, sunny and quite windy. Morning swim was pleasant, 17 ° C. After breakfast and påhälsning of Michael of Hoor, we paddled against Tärnö for lunch and ice cream. Just before Tärnö, at Haro, we went ashore for energy replenishment and replacement of paddle for Matilda. She wanted to test a large paddle and we had an extra with us, so we put it together. Very long was it, far too long, but she wanted to paddle with so that meant it was so ![]()
When we came out to Tärnö, where Michael is already in place. A little more snack, lunch, and then the long awaited ice cream before we paddled against Fölsö for night camp. Now it was a little bigger waves from the side and Paula had to work to keep up and fend off the waves. In second place was very stable, almost a little sad ...
It was very hot, so a dip was a must. Me and Matilda switched on and would go swimming. With your feet in the water, we discovered that it was not as nice warm longer. But I threw myself into the water and almost got to get a shock. Geez it's cold! Found out that it was 11 ° c now, would have been 19 on the night before. It's happened before ...
Matilda wanted to try to sit back and control the runner-up, so we did. Worked fine and the decision was made to Paula and Matilda would paddle runner-up on Thursday. ![]()
A walk around the island, dinner, and then called sleeping bags again. I sat up for a while, the evening was really nice.

Woke up again by the heat, at 6 o'clock I was out of the tent. The sleeping pad and sleeping bag sheets, I sat on the rock and read a good while. Fine. Sömntutorna wanted his tent in the shade to sleep a little longer this morning. Scones, äggamacka and coffee for breakfast before we packed up and paddled toward the eastern Bokö via Mulö and West Bokö. At E Bokö we had plans to swim with kayak, but the heat had not returned to the water so we only ate lunch before we went back to Nytäppet.

Semi-Four in the morning, I had this view from the tent door

We were really lucky with the weather. It was not as relaxed as I am used to but great fun. And Matilda's words ringing in his ears: - Next year I'll paddle your own kayak!

Besides paddlandet it will be a lot of crafts, silver crafts, computer crafts, gardening crafts and more. Some forest walks, a little biking and other fun.
