Charge your iPhone on an islet

iPhone, Solio, GumPro och lite sladdar för att ladda även från två-hål-i-väggen

iPhone, Solio, GumPro and some cables to recharge even from two-hole in the wall

iPhone is a little småroliga and slightly addictive. As you may understand, we got stuck in iPhone swamp, I then 2.5 years and Pia since 1.5. Now we wait for a new version, but until we are satisfied with the ones we have and use them quite frequently. We do not ring very much, but they are used for surfing and other crafts. Though most are waiting we do on a Netbook, iTablet or iSlate of course, but we'll stick a couple of weeks there ...

As many of you have noticed a few more pulls of some power ... If you use them only for making calls and sending one another text messages with an old fashion phone hands of course the battery several hundred hours. But why use modern things the old way?

It is easy to remove the battery quite quickly, and usually sit in the sofa or in an office and then it is usually pretty close to electrical outlets.

Sometimes we do succeed, however, take us away from the couch and lands on some rock or other scary place where it is impressively low power and because it is a bit curious about where you'd occasionally check the Reader , Facebook , blogging sometimes, mail a few pictures (preferably to friends who are sitting in the office), throw out a couple of pictures on Flickr , chat a bit and maybe send something sms / mms then take the battery out pretty quickly. The easiest, cheapest option is to resist or to paddle, hike, ski the inhabited places where there is a power outlet. Though it is not always a fun option.

We've tried some variations of the charger which pokes in regular rechargeable or alkaline batteries, but have not found anything that worked on me a few moments longer.

Just Mobile Gum Pro - external battery with USB connector

But then about a year, we have used an external battery from Just Mobile called GumPro , it is of 4400 mAh which they say will be enough to fully charge three times around and it appears to be pretty even if we have not tested and measured so very carefully. The battery has been around for quite a few tours and worked to their liking.

Solio Classic, laddbart batteri och solladdare

Solio Classic rechargeable battery and the solar charger

Last summer we purchased an external battery, this time a Solio Classic as well as being a rechargeable battery also has fold-out solar panels. Used it on our Norgetur last summer and thought it worked well with it, but the solar cells require lots of sun, decent right angle to the sun and a fairly long time. The internal battery in the Solio Classic is at 1650 mAh. Supplied with a range of adapters for charging both the one and the others.

Both of the above recommended course. GumPro's really the most affordable and fits clearly better for shorter trips. But should you be looking for more than a couple of days and / or are an avid iPhone users can Solio be the model that can be loaded afterwards.

Now it probably will soon position for an external battery to the computer, so perhaps it could be a little hair work a few days here and there. One that makes sense is the HyperMac which the largest model (222WH and just over 2 kg) is able to provide more than 20 extra hours to my two and a half year old computer or just over 30 extra hours to a more modern 13 inch laptop ... Or you can download the iPhone one like that 52 times!

Like canoeing, especially tour paddling in beautiful archipelago. Does time outdoors counted and nights in a tent as well. Paddling seems clear fun and I try to get out and move about a bit in the surface here and there. On kajak.nu we try to inspire others to come out. Text and images here come from both me and Pia.
